5 Beauty Tips for Film/Theatre
After 17 years in Theatre and Film, I have learned some tips for dealing with all the make up and hair spray! The heavy make up they use can cause break outs and take a toll on your skin. And always having your hair teased or hair sprayed can also take a toll on your hair.
So here is my 5 tips!
1. Use wigs!! Wigs are a girls best friend in the movie and theatre industry! Dying your hair can take a huge toll on it and if you have to dying multiple times in a short time, that can be really damaging to your hair. Take Jennifer Lawrence, she had to dye her hair dark for Hunger Games then for everything else, she dyed it back to blonde. Then she had to cut off all her hair cause it was so fried at the ends.
2. Wash your face at the end of the day! Seems pretty self explanatory, but if you don't really really wash your face at the end of the day, all that make up will settle into your pores and cause major break outs. The make up they use is very heavy and cream!
3. Drink lots and lots of water! Being under the harsh lights can take a toll on your skin and your health. So drinking lots of water will help you from getting dehydrated from the lights!
4. Always do screen tests! I have seen too many movies (student and Hollywood) where the actors look odd cause they didn't check to make sure the make up on the actors looked natural under whatever lighting they were using! Natural lights will cause you to look different then artificial lights.
5. Give your skin and hair a breather! If you having to put on all that make up and hair spray everyday. Then the days you have off, let your skin and hair have a break! They will thank you later for it!!
Hope this was helpful!

New Favorite Dry Shampoo!
So, having crazy coloured hair comes at a price. Taking bigger gaps between washes. Now, not washing your hair every day is good for it. But, not washing it for 3-4 days can cause your hair to become very very oily. No one wants that! So that is where dry shampoo comes in!
Dry shampoo is power based so when you place it on your scalp, it will soak up all the oils that might be sitting on your scalp and in your hair. Theres is so many different brands of dry shampoo (almost every hair care line has a dry shampoo with in the line). They even have coloured dry shampoo! I believe Bumble and Bumble makes some.
So as you can imagine, I have gone through a lot of different kinds of dry shampoos. Everything from the "drug store" brands to the high end salon brands. I figured it was time to try something different.
I went into the Lush store to restock on my face masks when I saw their dry shampoo: No Drought. I knew I had to try it! And I am so glad that I did!
It leaves your hair smelling and feeling as fresh as when you first washed it! It soaked up the oil in the matter of seconds and didn't leave my hair looking like I had dandruff. And the price wasn't too bad! The big bottle with is 4.6oz is $13. I know that doesn't seem like a lot of product, but you are using dry shampoo in between your washes. So it should last you a while.
Anyways, I would highly recommend this dry shampoo! It smells great. It feels great and the price isn't bad! Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo

Naked3 Palette
So this weekend I went to the mall with my friend Hannah and we stopped in the Sephora there. I knew that the Naked3 palette came out at the end of November/Start of December so I stopped over to see it for myself. I have never owned any of the Naked palettes, I do own the naked basic one, but none of the 12 shadow palette.
So they had one there and I was looking, debating if I should get one of the other two before I got the 3rd one. And my friend made a valid point that I already own a lot of other shades and perhaps I should get out of my comfort zone (I don't really wear pinks). Well since there was one there and I knew it was basically sold out everywhere else, I bought it. I have never been happier!
The palette has such pretty shades of pinks and the black with the red flakes it in was so beautiful! I know I will have to go get the other ones. But I was happy that I got the Naked3 cause it is so out of my comfort zone but I am almost 23 and I know that sooner or later I will have to widen my range!
So while some might think I should have gotten the first one or the second, I was happy that I got this one because they are such pretty colours and I know I will put them to good use as a start to wide my range of make up colours! You can't wear dark make up forever, right?

10 Beauty Tricks and Tips!
As I sit here, drinking some tea (cause I am super sick!) and doing my radio requests for SP, an idea popped into my head! My beauty tricks and tips that I have learned over the years, either by accident or someone told me about.
The great thing about beauty is that you some times don't need to spend loads of money for the right face mask or scrub when you have most of the items they either claim to use or actually use right in your kitchen! Or there are somethings you never thought of before!
So there is just 10 that came to mind:
1. When washing your face, start with the hottest water you can stand. Hot water and steam will open up your pores and allow the face wash to get deeper down into your pore. Then once you have completely washed everything off, splash some cold water onto your face. Cold water will close the pores back up. You are kinda getting a mini facial every time you wash your face! (my mum taught me this one!)
2. If you have loads of blackhead (like I do on my nose) you can use a bobby pin to help clear out the pore. I know this sounds really gross. But if you use the curved part of it, it will scrap the black out of the pore!
3. If you have run out of your dry shampoo and don't have any time to go to the store and get some more, do not panic! Baby power works just the same! The power will soak up the oils in your hair and leave it looking fresh! Just shake some on the roots and comb it down through your hair, then shake your head and you are good to go!
4. If you are like me and hate waiting for your nails to dry, then this trick is for you! After you have painted your nails, let them sit for just a few minutes then fill a bowl or the sink up with cold cold water, then place your hands in the water for about 30 seconds to a minute then take out, your nails will be dried!
5. Make-up brushes can be pricey and if you are just starting out, can be a little intimidating, but, art brushes work just the same! Just find an art brush the has the same shape as the make up brush and use that till you can afford nice brushes, or just keep using the art ones! Here is a link to a great video on the comparison of MAC make up brushes to Loew Cornell art brushes: EnKoreMakeup: MAC Brushes vs Painting Brushes
6. A great mask for black heads is an equal parts of kosher salt and baking soda mixed with a gel based face wash. Place it on your face for about 10 minutes then remove with warm water!
7. Baby wipes make a great alternative to make up remover towelettes. They are also gentle enough on sensitive skin.
8. Cream concealer can be used as an eyeshadow primer!
9. When dying your hair, use equal parts vinegar and water when rinsing out the colour. It will help lock in the colour. Just like with Easter eggs!
10. Olive oil will work wonders on your split ends!
There is many more! And I will post them...later lol!
I hope this was super helpful!

A Little Update
So this past Friday, my boyfriend, my little brother and I went to see the Aussie band Sick Puppies! I love these guys so very much and have worked for them for a few years now as their Colorado State Ambassador. And they put on an amazing show and are amazing peeps. www.sickpuppies.com
After the show and hanging out with them, I couldn't help but notice that Emma, their bassist, has amazing skin! Even after being under the lights and on the road so much. So I asked her and she told me that she makes sure she washes her face before going to bed, no matter what time it is when she calls it a night. Keeping it moisturized and not sleeping in make up.
You put your skin through a lot of stress being under heavy lights, like concerts, theatre or film. The best way to keep it as clear as possible is making sure you have a good make up remover and good skin care routine! Baby wipes are also good for keeping your face clean and clear.
I just wanted to give you something till there is a new video up on YouTube up! Which will be sometime this week!
